Shale Resources Evaluation and Development - SRE

 About the Course

With the main objective being that all participants leave with a comprehensive grasp of the role and value of every discipline in an integrated team, this course will cover current techniques for evaluating, drilling, and finishing these difficult reservoirs. Focus will be placed on the drawbacks of many current tools and technologies during discussions and exercises. There will be descriptions of information and opportunities for numerous current and worldwide shale plays. The participant need to emerge from the course with a basic comprehension of value-adding shale gas resource practices as well as knowledge of the crucial reservoir and stimulation parameters needed to forecast a prospective commercial resource play.

Excellent balance. Exceptional work! It was enjoyable and the material was great. - Canada, Operations Engineer

Target Audience

Professionals who are interested in a comprehensive review of both current and cutting-edge ideas, technologies, and procedures connected to the development of shale gas and shale oil resources, including reservoir, production, and completion engineers, petrophysicists, geologists, and geophysicists.

 Course Objectives

Participants will pick up skills in:

  • Explain the potential for resources and the economic significance of shale gas and shale oil resources. List the similarities and differences between coalbed methane, tight gas, and shale gas.
  • Determine the sweet spots by recognizing and describing the distinctions between shale plays and essential reservoir characteristics. Estimate the amount of gas and oil that is currently available for resource plays.
  • Utilize various resource appraisal approaches while being aware of their benefits and drawbacks.
  • Shale gas and oil formations should be subjected to drilling, completion, and stimulation techniques. Analyze and forecast the performance of each individual well and reservoir.
  • How should well reserves be estimated for both the PDP (proven developed producing) and PUD (proved undeveloped) categories?

Course Outlines

  • The impact of current shale plays globally
  • Reservoir characterisation and evaluation: organic, rock, and mechanical quality properties; the geological environment; rock properties; petrophysical factors; and the use of seismic data in field assessment
  • Pilot holes, fluids, MWD and LWD, wellbore sizes and lateral, drilling problems, mechanical concerns, vertical vs. horizontal wells, and drilling all relate to drilling.
  • Cased vs.
  • open hole, perforation techniques, stimulation design and considerations, and case studies are all completed.
  • Strategies for conducting a pilot program in the field to improve well drilling, completion, and comprehension Utilizing microseismic, fiber optic, production log, and other resources, stimulated rock volume (SRV)
  • Calculating reserves and predicting production: handling estimate uncertainty; volumetrics; performance analysis; simulation; resource development; decline curve analysis
  • logistics, field development, pad design, water resources, and social permission
