Production/Processing Operations Corrosion Management

About the Course

The primary sources of corrosion in upstream oil and gas operations, as well as monitoring and mitigation techniques, will all be covered in this thorough course. The many types of corrosion damage that result from the different mechanisms of corrosion will all be taken into consideration. Participants will review methods for choosing materials and coatings for corrosion resistance for various conditions and applications (including the use of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156), review approaches to selecting materials and coatings for corrosion resistance for cathodic protection systems and (CP) surveillance, and be introduced to cathodic protection systems and (CP) surveillance. The participant will get knowledge on how to pick corrosion inhibitors for various systems, how to use those inhibitors, how to construct an integrated monitoring program, and how to pick and use corrosion monitoring methodologies.

Instead of being more strictly focused on corrosion engineering or chemistry, the course content is based on a field facilities engineering point of view. It offers a good mix of the essential theory and useful applications to address/mitigate corrosion-related issues. By the end of the course, the causes, assessments, identification, equipment integrity, and corrosion mitigation work methodologies will have been covered.
