Mechanical Design and Specification for Compressor Systems, ME-46

About the Course

Centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw compressors are the focus of this 5-day, expert level training for facility design engineers, operations engineers, and technicians. The fundamentals of compressor types, related auxiliary systems, mechanical equipment design, operating and performance characteristics, control and monitoring systems, maintenance procedures, and codes and standards are covered in this course.

Target Audience

engineers and technicians working in pipelines, facilities, plants, or mechanical engineering must have a thorough understanding of the various compressor types.

Course Objectives

  • How to use thermodynamics to improve compressor operation and performance Tips for choosing, sizing, and specifying compressors
  • systems auxiliary to compressors
  • Application of compressors in series and parallel
  • How to implement compressor systems in oil and gas industry process facilities How to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot compression systems using cutting-edge monitor and control equipment
  • How to use upkeep procedures to increase compressor dependability testing in the field and in stores
  • Economics of compressors, including comparisons between OPEX and CAPEX.

Course Outlines

  • compressor types and applications
  • selection criteria for positive displacement and dynamic compressors Thermodynamics and operational characteristics of a compressor Evaluations of performance curves and off-design results
  • Important compressor parts and additional auxiliary systems technical requirements
  • Controls and monitoring equipment for compressors
