Facilities Services - SIM-PLU

About the Course

A student-driven learning methodology based on the INSTOTM Methodology is combined with high fidelity, generic process simulators in an interactive 2-day course. The two-day Simulation Solutions courses emphasize critical thinking abilities for operators that can be applied back in the control room and educate operators how to create mental models of diverse operations.

Each student in this course will have access to a personal general simulator, which may include a cooling water tower, a basic steam boiler, and an intermediate gas-fired steam boiler. Each piece of equipment will be started up by the trainees, and they will also have time to spend troubleshooting boiler and cooling water system issues that are frequently encountered. Over the course of the lesson, emphasis is placed on operations that support both safety and optimization. Refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, and any other facilities that run boilers and cooling towers can all use the course material.

Target Audience

Working with cooling water towers and boilers are console operators, outside operators, console supervisors, and young engineers.
