completion, commissioning, and startup of the systems - CSU

About the Course

You will learn in this course how to define a project successfully.

Did you know that the Commissioning & Start-Up (CSU) phase determines whether a project is successful or unsuccessful from the standpoint of an investor? When a project is fully operational and commissioned, it is likely to be a financial success with the promised returns for investors. It is extremely improbable that a project will ever be financially successful if it is started up before it has been fully commissioned. The project is a catastrophe from the standpoint of an investor.

Why aren't more people who have worked on projects for a long time aware of this? It can be because there hasn't been, and for many Operators and Contractors, there still isn't, training and education to develop vital skills and knowledge up until now.

The following critically essential questions are addressed in this course:

Who or what commissions? How do systems get completed?

When and how should construction go from discrete locations to larger-scale systems? How should I conduct myself as a member of the CSU team or stakeholder?

What characterizes a project's success or failure?

What are the essential ingredients for commissions and startup success?

 Target Audience

Managers, Engineers, Technicians, and Operators involved in systems completion and commissioning now or in the near future must take this course.

Managers, Engineers, Technicians, and Operators in stakeholder organizations supporting CSU on the project, such as Construction, Operations, Engineering, QA/QC, and Safety, are strongly encouraged to take this course.
