BPT, or Basic Petroleum Technology

 About the Course

This course gives the user a basic understanding of petroleum technology within the framework of asset management and the petroleum value chain, from discovery to abandonment. Both conventional oil and gas and unconventional shale (tight oil and gas) are addressed. The participant will comprehend when, how, and how specialists in geoscience and engineering use technology to assess, then maximize, the economic worth of an oil and gas field. This enables the participant to contribute at their highest level both professionally and administratively to their organization. Participants first discover and comprehend why various unconventional and conventional oil and gas production types and plays have varying values. During each phase of the asset life cycle, the participant discovers which technologies are employed by the geoscience and engineering departments and WHY! Understanding of the oil industry and fundamental petroleum technologies is sped up by the E&P lifecycle framework. This learning is accomplished using 'Our Reservoir' and 'Our Well' as working models, together with guided talks, films, animations, and progressive team exercises.

Additionally, this course is offered in an entirely online, on-demand style.

I thought the course was excellent and ideal for my first year as a professional geologist. - American geologist
