A Workshop on Sequence-Wavelet Analysis Exploration and Exploitation for Advanced Seismic Stratigraphy (ADS)

About the Course

When the lithofacies-stratigraphic information, which is derived from reflection group geometry (sequence analysis), is combined with the rock-fluid information contained in the seismic wavelet, seismic stratigraphy is a potent tool for exploration and exploitation. The techniques used in this workshop don't rely on either aesthetic processing or interpretation as an art; rather, they use practical seismic stratigraphy methods as a science, based on solid, tried-and-true principles that can be applied to a variety of tectonic structural styles and depositional environments.

This demanding, five-day course is an interactive workshop that emphasizes problem-solving and group discussion as well as presentations. Participants gain knowledge on how to interpret seismic modeling as a foundation for seismic-facies and reflection character analysis. Case studies for exploration and development include well data chosen from all over the world along with 2D and 3D seismic data.

Target Audience

Geophysicists, geologists, and exploration specialists who have passed the Introduction to Seismic Stratigraphy PetroSkills course: A workshop for exploration: A Basin Scale Regional program will help your exploration and development skills, or you can attend if you have similar training and want a difficult program.

Course Objectives

Participants will pick up skills in:

  • Analyze the wavelet analysis data (frequency, velocity, Q, seismic characteristics, and AVO) for information about rock fluids.
  • Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of using and avoiding synthetics, seismic inversion, and VSP in geovalidation.
  • With correct fault imaging interpretation, ascertain the mechanical stratigraphy of the fault.
  • Recognize the variations, shortcomings, and advantages of the Vail and Galloway sequence paradigms, as well as when to use each of them most effectively.
  • Using micropaleontology, create sea level curves.
  •  Create precise seismic facies maps and comprehend their connection to Walter's law.
  • Sort deltas according to their seismic features
  • Differentiate between parasequence sets and basin floor fan facies
  • Explain how the responses of the clastic and carbonate depositional systems to allocyclic and autocyclic processes affect the architecture of the reservoir and the potential for seals.
  • Best parasequence interpretation sets exploratory fairways Reservoirs should be geophysically characterized for development efficiency.

Course Outlines

  •  Review of philosophy and epistemology in the introduction
  • Application of wave theory, characteristics, frequency substitution, and coherency in geophysics (lithologies, fluids, gases, porosities, and pressures) Amplitude variation with offset
  • Mechanical stratigraphy of faults
  • Theory and application of the Vail and Galloway sequence
  • creation of high resolution sea level curves from micropaleo Silciclastic episodes in both shallow and deep water
  • Analysis of seismic facies and paleoenvironments Geophysics at the reservoir scale utilizing the wavelet hydrocarbon images
  • Reconstruction of geohistory
  • xploration and development optimized
